Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has announced the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST), 2026 for admission into Class 6 for the academic year 2026–27. Eligible students from Assam can now apply online to appear for the entrance exam and get admission into the prestigious Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) across the state.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam Navodaya Admission 2026
Location Eligibility:
- Student must be a resident of the district where they’re applying.
- Must be studying in Class 5 in the same district during the academic session 2025-26.
Age Limit:
- Must be born between 1st May 2014 and 31st July 2016 (both dates inclusive)
Educational Qualification:
- Studying in Class V in a recognized school or through NIOS in the same district.
Number of Attempts:
- Only one attempt allowed. Students who’ve already appeared for JNVST cannot apply again.
Rural Quota:
- 75% of seats are reserved for students from rural areas.
- The student must have completed Classes 3 to 5 from a school in a rural area of the same district.
How to Apply for Assam JNV Admission?
Follow these steps to apply online for JNVST Class 6 Admission:
- Visit the official website: www.navodaya.gov.in
- Tick “Have you read the prospectus?” and click Proceed
- Fill in the application form with correct details
- Upload the required documents (photo, signature, certificates)
- Click on Save & Preview and verify details
- Submit the form and save your registration number & acknowledgment slip
