The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) February 2026.
The exam will be held on 08 February 2026 in multiple languages across exam centres in India.
For candidates from the North-East, CTET 2026 centres in Assam will be at Dibrugarh, Guwahati and Silchar.
Teachers who want to work in government or private schools must qualify in CTET as per CBSE and NCTE rules.

CTET is conducted in two papers:
- Paper I: For teachers of Classes I–V (Primary stage)
- Paper II: For teachers of Classes VI–VIII (Upper primary stage)
You can apply for either Paper I, or Paper II, or both.
CTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility is laid down by NCTE. Only a simple summary is given here. Candidates should also read the full norms on the NCTE website.
A. Eligibility for Classes I–V (Primary Stage – Paper I)
Any one of the following:
- Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks
and passed / appearing in 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) - Senior Secondary with 45% marks
and 2-year D.El.Ed as per NCTE regulations - Senior Secondary with 50% marks
and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) - Senior Secondary with 50% marks
and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) - Graduation with 50% marks and B.Ed
(subject to conditions mentioned by NCTE for appointment in Classes I–V)
B. Eligibility for Classes VI–VIII (Upper Primary Stage – Paper II)
Any one of the following:
- Graduation and passed / appearing in 2-year D.El.Ed
- Graduation with 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed
- Graduation with 45% marks and 1-year B.Ed as per NCTE regulations
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks
and 4-year B.El.Ed - Senior Secondary with 50% marks
and 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed - Graduation with 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed (Special Education)
- Candidates having a B.Ed recognised by NCTE are also allowed to appear in CTET as per existing guidelines.
Note: Relaxation in qualifying marks for reserved categories will follow NCTE rules.

You can submit the CTET 2026 form only through the official online portal.
- Scroll down to the Important Web-Links section.
- Click on the “Online Application Form” link.
- A new page will open – register with your basic details and then log in.
- Fill all personal, contact and educational information carefully.
- Choose Paper I / Paper II / Both, select exam centre and language options.
- Upload your recent passport size photograph and signature as per size and format.
- Pay the application fee according to your category.
- Submit the form and download the confirmation page.
- Take a print-out of the submitted form for future use.
