Stipend
Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973, Apprentices Rules 1992 (as amended) and IOCL guidelines.
IOCL Apprentice Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit (as on 30 November 2025)
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Maximum age: 24 years for General / EWS candidates
Upper age is relaxable as per Government rules:
- SC / ST: 5 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- PwBD–OBC (NCL): 13 years
- PwBD–SC / ST: 15 years
Educational Qualification (Trade & Technician Apprentices)
Below is a summary of the main disciplines. Candidates must also meet any additional conditions mentioned in the official notification.
Trade Apprentice – Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant)
- Qualification: 3-year B.Sc. with Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry / Maths / Physics.
Trade Apprentice (Fitter)
- Qualification: Matric / Class 10 pass with ITI (Fitter) – minimum 2 years course.
Trade Apprentice (Boiler)
- Qualification: 3-year B.Sc. with Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry.
Technician Apprentice – Chemical
- Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Petrochemical Engineering / Chemical Technology / Refinery & Petrochemical Engineering.
Technician Apprentice – Mechanical
- Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Technician Apprentice – Electrical
- Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Diploma in Electrical & Electronics.
Technician Apprentice – Instrumentation
- Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering / Instrumentation & Electronics / Instrumentation & Control / Applied Electronics & Instrumentation, or similar discipline.
Trade Apprentice – Secretarial Assistant
- Qualification: 3-year B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com.
Trade Apprentice – Accountant
- Qualification: B.Com. (3-year degree).
Trade Apprentice – Data Entry Operator (Fresher)
- Qualification: Class 12 pass.
Trade Apprentice – Data Entry Operator (Skill Certificate Holder)
- Qualification: Class 12 pass and Skill Certificate holder in Domestic Data Entry Operator.
Candidates must also satisfy refinery-specific requirements, reservation rules and medical standards as per IOCL norms.
How to Apply for IOCL Apprentice Recruitment 2025
The application process has two stages – registration on apprenticeship portals and submission of IOCL’s own form.
Step 1 – Register as Apprentice

Fill in all basic details correctly and note your registration / enrollment number. You will need it while filling the IOCL form.
Step 2 – Submit IOCL Online Application
- Visit IOCL’s apprentice recruitment page (direct link will be given under “Important Web-Links” on InfoOrange).
- Log in using your registration/enrolment number from NAPS / NATS and basic details.
- Choose the refinery and trade / discipline you wish to apply for.
- Complete the online application form carefully and upload the required documents.
- Check all details and finally submit the form.
Applications submitted only on NAPS / NATS without completing IOCL’s own form will not be considered.
