Assam Legislative Assembly Recruitment 2026 – 5 Posts for Hindi & Other Translators

The Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat has announced a recruitment drive for five contractual positions. The vacancies comprise two Hindi Reporter posts and one each of Hindi Translator, Bengali Translator, and Karbi Translator. Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university.
  • Age between 21 and 40 years as on 01‑01‑2026 (with relaxations for OBC/MOBC, SC/ST(P) & H candidates).
  • No application fee is required.

Specific Requirements by Post

  1. Hindi Reporter
    • Diploma in Hindi Stenography with a minimum speed of 80 words per minute and DTP typewriting (Hindi).
    • Six‑month Diploma/Certificate in Computer Application.
    • Proficiency in Assamese and English.
    • Preference given to those familiar with parliamentary procedures or reporting experience.
  2. Hindi Translator
    • Bachelor’s degree with Hindi as one of the subjects.
    • Good command of Assamese and English literature.
    • Six‑month Diploma/Certificate in Computer Application.
    • Preference for candidates experienced in parliamentary functioning or reporting in Hindi newspapers.
  3. Bengali Translator
    • Bachelor’s degree with Bengali as one of the subjects.
    • Proficiency in Assamese, English and Bengali literature.
    • Six‑month Diploma/Certificate in Computer Application.
    • Preference for those experienced in parliamentary functioning or reporting in Bengali newspapers.
  4. Karbi Translator
    • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
    • Knowledge of Assamese, English and Karbi language/literature.
    • Six‑month Diploma/Certificate in Computer Application.
    • Preference for candidates with parliamentary experience or reporting in Karbi newspapers.

Age Relaxation

  • OBC/MOBC candidates: 3‑year relaxation.
  • SC/ST(P) & H candidates: 5‑year relaxation per post.

Term of Appointment

The initial appointment is for six months and may be extended based on the Assembly’s requirements.

Selection Process

  1. Shortlisting: Candidates meeting eligibility will be shortlisted by the Secretariat.
  2. Speed Test (Hindi Reporters): Shortlisted reporters must appear for a speed test conducted by the Assembly.
  3. Interview (Translators): Hindi, Bengali and Karbi Translators will undergo an interview before a board constituted by the Secretariat.
