SSC Sub‑Inspector Recruitment 2026 – 1871 Posts, Eligibility, Fees & Application Process

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the 2026 Sub‑Inspector examination. The recruitment will cover positions in Delhi Police and various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Candidates can apply through the SSC portal until the deadline mentioned below.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: 20 to 25 years as on 1st August 2025 (birth between 02.08.2000 and 01.08.2005). Relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC/MOBC and ex‑servicemen.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or equivalent. Candidates who have appeared in the final examination may apply provided they secure the required qualification before the application deadline.
  • Driving Licence (Male): A valid LMV licence (motorcycle and car) is mandatory for candidates applying to Delhi Police SI posts; otherwise, only CAPF SI positions are available.

Payment can be made via BHIM UPI, Net Banking or credit/debit cards. Cash payment is also accepted at SBI branches through a challan.

Application Procedure

  1. Visit the SSC Recruitment Portal and register as a new user.
  2. Login and fill in personal, educational and document details.
  3. Select preferred examination centres (see list below).
  4. Pay the applicable fee according to your category.
  5. Submit the application and print a copy for future reference.

Examination Pattern

The selection process comprises four stages: Paper‑I, Physical Standard Test (PST)/Physical Endurance Test (PET), Paper‑II and Detailed Medical Examination (DME). All stages are mandatory.

Paper‑I – Computer Based Examination (CBE)

  • 200 multiple‑choice questions
  • Total marks: 200
  • Duration: 120 minutes
  • Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer
