SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 – 2536 Posts Open for Lower Divisional Clerk, Junior Secretariat Assistant & Data Entry Operator

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) examination of 2026. The recruitment will fill 2,536 Group‑C posts across various ministries, departments, offices and statutory bodies.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum educational qualification: Class 12 or equivalent from a recognised board/university.
  • For DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Ministry of Culture – 12th standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 18 and 27 years on 1st January 2026. Birth dates should fall between 2nd January 1999 and 1st January 2008.

Age Relaxation (Category‑wise)

  • SC/ST – 5 years
  • OBC – 3 years
  • PWD – 10 years
  • PWD (OBC) – 13 years
  • PWD (SC/ST) – 15 years
  • ESM – 3 years

Application Fee

  • SC/ ST, PWD, ESM and Women: Nil
  • UR/OBC: ₹100/-
  • Payment modes – BHIM UPI, Net Banking or credit/debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, RuPay). Cash payment via SBI challan is also accepted.

How to Apply Online

  1. Visit the SSC official portal.
  2. Scroll to the “Important Web‑Links” section and click on Online Registration. Complete the registration.
  3. After registration, log in using the credentials and open the Online Application Form.
  4. Fill all personal and educational details. Upload required documents (photograph, signature, certificates).
  5. Pay the application fee as per your category.
  6. Submit the form and print the confirmation page for future reference.

  • Last date to submit application: 18th July 2025
  • Tier‑I (Computer‑Based Examination): from 12th November 2025 onwards
  • Tier‑II (Computer‑Based Examination): February–March 2026

Exam Scheme

Tier‑I – Computer Based Examination

  • Format: Objective type, multiple choice questions only.
  • Languages: English, Hindi and any language chosen by the candidate.
  • Total marks: 200 (100 questions)
  • Negative marking: –0.50 for each wrong answer
  • Time: 60 minutes (80 minutes for scribe candidates)
  • Exam centres in North East India include Itanagar, Dibrugarh, Guwahati (Dispur), Jorhat, Silchar, Imphal, Ukhrul, Shillong, Aizwal, Dimapur, Kohima and Agartala.
