Assam OBC Scholarship 2026 – Eligibility, Amount and Online Application

The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes, Assam has opened the online application process for the Assam OBC Scholarship Scheme 2026.

This scholarship is available for students belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) who are studying in Pre-Matric and Post-Matric courses during the academic session 2026–2027.

Eligible students can apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Assam OBC Scholarship Amount

The scholarship amount depends on the type of scholarship and the course category.

Pre-Matric Scholarship

Students selected under the Pre-Matric Scholarship will receive a consolidated academic allowance of:

  • ₹4,000 per annum

Post-Matric Scholarship

For Post-Matric students, the scholarship includes academic allowance and tuition fee support depending on the course group.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam OBC Scholarship 2026

Students must meet the following conditions before applying.

Community

The scholarship is open to students belonging to:

  • Other Backward Classes (OBC)
  • Economically Backward Classes (EBC)
  • De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNT / SNT)

Citizenship

  • The applicant must be an Indian national.

Institution type

For Pre-Matric Scholarship

  • The student must be studying in Class IX or Class X on a full-time basis in a recognised school.

For Post-Matric Scholarship

  • The student must be studying in a recognised post-matric course in a recognised institution.

Family restriction

Only two boys from the same parents or guardians can receive the scholarship.

This restriction does not apply to girls. So, if a family has more than two girl children, eligible girls may still receive the scholarship.

Income limit

The annual income of the student’s parents or guardians from all sources must not exceed:

  • ₹2.5 lakh per annum

The income certificate must be issued by the competent Revenue Circle Officer.


Documents Required for Assam OBC Scholarship

Students should keep the following documents ready before filling the online application form:

  • Bonafide certificate from the institution
  • Bank passbook
  • Income certificate
  • Caste certificate
  • Aadhaar card

Important document notes

  • Students should enter only an active bank account in the application form.
  • The scholarship amount will be released through DBT mode directly to the bank account.
  • The name in the bank account should match the applicant’s name as far as possible.
  • A bonafide certificate from the Head of the Institution is required during submission.
