CTET September 2026 – Application, Eligibility & Important Dates

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), September 2026. The test will be conducted online for registration and offline at exam centres across India, including Dibrugarh, Guwahati and Silchar in Assam.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Classes I‑V (Paper I): Senior Secondary with ≥50% marks and final year of a 2‑year Diploma in Elementary Education, or 4‑year B.E.I.Ed., or graduation + B.Ed. (≥50%) with mandatory bridge course; special provisions for Special Education diplomas.
  • Classes VI‑VIII (Paper II): Graduation with ≥45% marks and final year of a 2‑year Diploma in Elementary Education, or 4‑year B.E.I.Ed., or 1‑year B.Ed. (≥50%), or senior secondary with final year of a 4‑year B.E.I.Ed.; special provisions for Special Education diplomas.

Exam Structure

  • Paper I (Classes I‑V): 150 MCQs, 150 marks, 2.5 hours, no negative marking.
  • Paper II (Classes VI‑VIII): 150 MCQs, 150 marks, 2.5 hours, no negative marking.

Both papers cover subjects such as Child Development and Pedagogy, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Language I & II, with Paper II also including Mathematics & Science or Social Studies.

How to Apply Online

  1. Go to the Online Application Form on the CBSE CTET portal.
  2. Fill in personal and educational details as prompted.
  3. Upload a passport‑size photograph, signature and any other required documents.
  4. Pay the application fee (single or both papers) using debit/credit card or net banking.
  5. Submit the form and print the confirmation page for future reference.
